Kevin W. McClain Investigations, Ltd. has a 21 member professional investigative and process service staff that has over 300 years combined professional, legal and law enforcement experience. The background of our staff includes civilian and military police as well as staff with advanced special investigative experience. Our staff is also experienced in the forensic, legal, insurance, military and criminal law enforcement fields as well as all aspects of private investigative services.
Terry Woelfel C.L.I.- Director
of Metro East Investigations and Process Serving
DivisionMr. Woelfel is a Certified Legal Investigator with over thirty years investigative experience . He is a past National Director of the National Association of Legal Investigators (NALI). He has conducted literally every type of legal investigation including both civil (plaintiff and defense) and criminal matters. He has a masters degree in Criminal Justice. Billy Ray Coursey - Director of Kentucky Investigations and Process Serving Division Mr. Coursey has over twenty years of investigative experience specializing in surveillance, locates and interviews of witnesses, criminal and civil investigations. Jonathan Lyon - Legal Investigator Mr. Lyon was a national trainer for LexisNexis Casemap. His prior career was as Investigator for more than fourteen years, twelve of them with the Office of the State Appellate Defender. His primary investigative focus has been on post-conviction death penalty cases. He is a Certified Defense Investigator through DePaul's Center for Justice in Capital Cases and a certified trainer through the Bureau of Justice Assistance. He has taught at the University of Michigan's Clarence Darrow Death Penalty Defense College, DePaul University College of Law, the National Defense Investigator Assn's 2005 & 2007 Annual Conferences, the Innocence Project in New York City, the Maryland Public Defenders' Annual Conference and Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Jonathan is the creator/webmaster for the internationally utilized website www.internetsleuth.net. Mark Claybourn - Director of Process Serving Division 10 years of investigative and process serving experience. His abilities to track down the most difficult evasive subjects has earned him a reputation among our clients and has been directly responsible for our process servers to continually maintain over 90% service rate. Ron Smith - Crime Scene Expert Mr. Smith has over thirty years in field of field investigations, interviewing, crime scene analysis and processing, fingerprint analysis, bomb and arson training. He was an instructor for the Illinois State Police and has written training modules for various aspects of criminal investigations training including homicide investigations. Alan Profancik C.C.D.I. - Senior Investigator Four years with Kevin W. McClain Investigations, Ltd. Considered one of the top investigators in the Midwest. He has completed the criminal defense investigation course offered by the Criminal Defense Investigators Training Institute and has obtained his certificate from DePaul Law School Criminal Defense Investigators program. He has also completed the Reid School of Interviewing and Interrogation. His abilities to track down witnesses from as far back as 30-40 years ago have led to a reputation among our Fortune 100 clients. He is also the lead investigator for Marion, Clinton and Fayette county public defender offices and assists on complex criminal and civil investigations including Death Penalty cases. He specializes in the field of Asbestos Litigation Investigation. He is a Board Certified Criminal Defense Investigator certified through the Criminal Defense Investigators Training Council. E. Fred Westfall - Senior Investigator - Surveillance Division Over 20 years in private investigations, Federal Corrections as a correctional officer and Special Investigator. Mr. Westfall brings in an extensive background in criminal investigations, covert surveillance, investigator supervision and is trained in all aspects of personal and location security. He possesses expert witness interviewing skills. Mr. Westfall was also a Trainer for the Federal Bureau of Corrections and has special training in Interpersonal Communications. Tony Penrod - Accident Reconstructionist/Senior Investigator He has over thirty years experience as an accident reconstructionist and legal investigator. He has provided analysis by conducting forensic accident reconstructions on good faith claims and appellate issues. He has conducted investigations in both the civil and criminal matters. He was a former senior field liability specialist for a nationally known insurance provider. He has Bachelors degree in Physics. He is a charter member of the Illinois Association of Technical Accident Investigators, the National Association of Professional Accident Investigators and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. Jeff McClain - Field Investigator Three years experience with Kevin W. McClain Investigations, Ltd. and in charge of all in house assignments including forensic review and analysis of video and audiotapes, surveillance assignments, and conducts database research and internet research for our growing clientele. He has obtained his certificate from the DePaul Law School Criminal Defense Investigators program, has completed the Reid School of Interviewing and Interrogation. He assist the lead investigators with their field work from the public defenders to Death Penalty cases as well as plaintiff and defense firms on civil matters. Rob Burkett - Field Investigator Eight years of experience in investigations from his career in the military. He has several years experience in operations and management of industrial plants and is OHSA approved for site inspections. He is a field investigator and process server for Kevin W. McClain Investigations, Ltd. With his well rounded education and work experience he brings to the table skills and abilities that are welcome and appreciated by our clients. From a never give up attitude to conducting covert operations on surveillance his multiple facets are second to none. Chuck Ludwig - Field Investigator - Cyber Crimes Division Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL BA from Eastern IL University, Charleston IL Former Police Officer in Sigel and Neoga, IL, 9 years, Deputy Sheriff 6 years worked all phases of patrol, investigations, courtroom testimony. As an Investigator with the Secretary of States, Department of Securities for 11 years and responsible for investigations of securities fraud, worked with staff attorney's in order to build a case for either an administrative action or toward a criminal action. Two years with the Department of Transportation in the Department of Compliance and quality Control. Retired from the State of IL Four years as an insurance investigator with Illinois Casualty Company. Now working with McClain Investigation as an investigator, specializing in financial and cyber crimes. Bruce Grafton - Arson Investigator Mr. Grafton has over thirty two years experience in origin and cause investigations. He was a former fire chief and is certified by the office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall as a Fire and Arson Investigator. He was an instructor for twenty one years in Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services, Basic Trauma Life Support and First Aid / CPR. James "Bud" Carpenter - Field Investigator Bud, in addition to his duties as the office manager for the Metro- East office also conducts field investigations as well as process serving. David Durbin - Field Investigator Mr. Durbin has been conducting field investigations and process serving for approximately five years. He retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections. Bill Sehlmeyer - Field Investigator He has been conducting field investigations and process serving for approximately seven years. He was a former in-house legal investigator for a Metro- East law firm that specialized in plaintiff's representation. Missy Combs - Field Investigator Missy has been conducting field investigations and process serving for approximately four years. Hollie Thomas - Field Investigator Process serving division. Her creative approach to process serving results in a high success rate. Daniel J. Fischer DABFE, FACFE- Consultant Mr. Fischer has a Bachelors degree in Pharmacology, retired with twenty years experience as a medical examiner/coroner. He specializes in Comprehensive Death Investigations with a Sub Specialty in Suicide and Questionable Deaths. Dan is a Board Certified Forensic Examiner and is a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners. As a part of our team, he brings invaluable insight to cases where a death has to be thoroughly investigated. |
